From A Mother To Another

I don’t know about you but I can become easily wrapped up in my own little world and become consumed with the ‘stresses’ and ‘worries’ of life that sometimes I never stop to think just how lucky I really am. Not in a big headed kind of way. But in a I have a roof over my head, food on the table and clothes on my back kind of way. Then you watch the news about all the other things going on in the world and it really makes you take a step back and think just how lucky you are! So when JoJo Maman Bébé contacted me and asked if I would help spread the word about their FAMTA campaign how could I say no!?

What is FAMTA?

FAMTA stands for ‘From A Mother From Another’ and it’s a recycling initiative to avoid clothes going to landfill and for them to be reused by those in need. JoJo Maman Bébé have run this campaign every Mother’s Day since 2015. This year it will be running from 18th February 2018 – 11th March 2018.

Being a mother myself the thought of any child not having clothes or shoes to wear breaks my heart let alone think about what these family’s have been through so if there is even a tiny way in which I can help then I’m more than happy to oblige.

‘From a Mother to Another’ aims to help clothe the thousands of displaced children living in Lebanon, during the harsh winters, who have never known a world without war and families in need in the UK with clothing distribution via Trussell Trust food banks. All while aiming to reduce the shocking levels of clothing waste that end up in landfill.

JoJo will be collecting good quality outgrown or unwanted baby and children’s clothes in sizes 0-6 years as well as children’s shoes.  Customers are requested to put together complete outfits sorted by size, sex and season, with shoes in a separate clear bag and take them to one of their 87 stores across UK and Ireland. A full list of stores can be found here. FAMTA is a recycling initiative to avoid clothes going to landfill and for them to be reused by those in need.

“Did you know nearly one third of the UK’s clothing ends up in landfill?”

How can you get involved?

JoJo are asking customers to bring in good quality outgrown baby and children’s clothes to a store in clear recyclable packaging. Please package up into little outfits, for example a top and shorts etc. Please label the age, either summer or winter, and girl or boy. You can drop these off to any JoJo store. For those who donate, JoJo are providing one £5 voucher to spend in store as a thank you.

Where does my package go?

Thee packages get sent out to the JoJo Maman Bébé Head Office and warehouse in Newport, Wales. They then sort through them all and package them up into lovely gift parcels. Once distributed into size and season, these boxes we will then be sent out to families in crisis in the UK and Lebanon.
