It always feel a bit self indulgent writing posts like this and saying I get ‘SO many questions about what I use on my face’ but it’s true, I do. So I’ll just put it down to the fact I’ll openly instagram story without a scrap of make up on but equally when I leave the house 99% I will have make up on (for the pure fact that I don’t feel ready for the day without it. I will always find time to put my make up on because it makes me feel happy) and I suppose that is why people are so intrigued as to what I slap on my chops everyday because you always see the not so polished before shot! Without the risk of sounding like a broken record I’ll briefly recap that 99.999999% of products I use are from the ‘drugstore’ (not quite sure how us Brits have adopted that phrase, but we have) simply because I think you can find some incredible products for really good value these days. Don’t get me wrong I adore high end products but I see them as more of a treat to myself now or I will get them as gifts for Christmas or birthdays. I always have and always will be a sucker for a good dupe!!
So it makes sense to start with my base. Before my roaccutane journey, which I will link here, I was the oiliest person ever. As in wiping your face every hour otherwise you look like you’re melting kind of oily. But since sorting my skin out and spending 9 months on roaccutane my skin is now pretty ‘normal’ (whatever normal means!) and I do prefer a more glowy/dewy look so I mix my foundation with a liquid highlighter. The foundation I use and have done for years is Bourjois Healthy Mix in the shade 52. I like a pretty good coverage in between medium and full I would say yet I never ever want to look cakey (who does!?) and this mixed with one pump of a liquid highlighter gives me my perfect foundation! The highlighters I use are Becca Backlight Priming Filter or Seventeen Skin 3 way highlighter (word on the street is this is being discontinued which breaks my heart as it is an incredible dupe for Nars Copacabana so if you love it like I do then stock up now!) For my base I also use the Collection lasting perfection concealer in the shade fair which is my all time number one concealer. I literally buy 3 at a time because I cannot be left in a situation without it or I will die* (*exaggeration used for dramatic effect)
I use to always wear a bold lip; reds, berries, purples, oranges, you name it. Since having Evie I don’t know what it is but I just can’t wear a bright coloured lip anymore!? I always go for it, force myself to put it on and look in the mirror and I just think no babe. I’m not feeling it. So basically now I just live in (if I remember to use a lip product) peachy nudes. These three are my go to’s and pretty much the lip products I never stray from. From top to bottom we have; L’Oreal Lip Laquer in 600, Chanel Coco Rouge gloss in Subtil and Bobbi Brown Semi-Matte Lip Colour in Pale Pink.
Then we have eyes. Now I might forget to put a on lip product or even brush my hair but 9 times out of 10 you will find me wearing eyeshadow. I kinda feel naked without it now. Since my sister bought me this Huda Beauty Warm Brown Obsessions palette for my birthday in December I have used it pretty much every day (except for when I’m at work because are you even at work if you don’t look like a potato!?) I am obsessed with it, the colours, the pigment, the texture. Everything about it is amazing. And now I’m living my life for orange eyes.
And last but not least probably my most asked question ever. What mascara do you use? The mascara I use and have used for about 10 years is the Maybelline Colossal Volum Express. I do have naturally long eyelashes anyway (#blessed) but this mascara is amazing. I try to build it up to get lots of volume and length so I probably do about 3 coats but I always leave the first coat to dry and go a bit tacky (you know like when you’re glueing your falsies?) because then the next layer of mascara sticks really well to your lash giving you lots more length. Then I use Collection eye brow kit in blonde (which is an absolute steal at £4!) and I use the middle shade to line my bottom lash line and then blend it out with a fluffy brush. I’ve done this for so long now that if I don’t have a brown shadow on my bottom lash line I think I look crazy without it!
I also use the Collection Matte Bronzer in terracotta (which is £2.99!!) but let’s be honest it’s not in any fit state to photograph! So that’s pretty much it but you have any other questions just leave one on this post and I’ll get back to you. X
