Catching the Zzzzzz’s [AD]

I will hold my hands up right now and admit I’m terrible at setting time aside for myself to wind down, switch off and give my body a rest. 9 times out of 10 I go to bed after midnight and I’m up the next morning at around quarter past 6. I know this is no good for my body and more importantly my mind, but I still continue to do it. I try and cram as much as possible in to those short post Evie hours. The only time of the day my attention isn’t split between running a home, a business, a part time job and a toddler. Obviously Evie is my number one priority which is why I try to utilise those hours she’s in bed to get my ever growing list of jobs done. So then I climb (drag myself) into bed gone midnight, close my eyes and my brain is in overdrive. Did I do this, did I do that? When really I deserve a calm, peaceful hour before bed, no technology and no manic list of jobs to complete in a supermarket sweep fashion.

You know the saying “you’ll feel better after a good nights sleep” and it’s true isn’t it, a good sleep can solve a thousand problems! But what if you can’t get a ‘good nights sleep’? What if you just can’t switch off? What if there’s always one more thing to do? What if bedtime is slowly getting later and later each day? I feel like we spend so much time looking after our bodies by eating right, drinking plenty of water, working out and all the other things that come as part of the ‘self care package’ that sleep never seems like it should be a priority. I can’t vouch for anyone else but I know that I don’t give it the attention I should. I feel like since becoming a mother you never truly switch off, they say you don’t sleep, you just worry with your eyes shut and sometimes it can feel exactly like that.

So that’s where Benenox comes in to play, they have a created an overnight recharge supplement. In essence it’s a bedtime vitamin. In the same way you might take multivitamins with your morning brew Benenox is just taken in the evening before sleep to help you get a better nights sleep.

Because while you sleep you may think your body is resting, but in fact your brain is very active and requires a constant supply of energy during the night. Benenox Overnight Recharge, when taken before bed, supplements your body’s stored energy levels to support good quality sleep.”

So what exactly is it? You want to know what it does and why you’d use it . . . Benenox Overnight Recharge is a supplement to help support good quality sleep. It contains a blend of three ingredients including honey, Sustamine® and Vitamin B6, which, when taken before bed, work together to supplement your body’s stored energy leaving you feeling fully recharged and ready to take on the day ahead. It aims to reduce tiredness and fatigue, support your mental function and maintain normal energy production. So all I’ve done is incorporate this into my bedtime routine (because bedtimes routines aren’t just for babies!) so I take one 15ml shot before bed as well as making a few changes to my usual routine along the way. I’ve decided to use less technology before bed, I’m taking time out for myself, reading a book (whether that’s 2 pages or 20!), having a hot drink and if I’m feeling extra snazzy I’ll whack out an eye mask too!

I’m pretty cynical in lots of aspects of life, I struggle with the concept of mindfulness or ‘herbal remedies’ and I always feel like a lot of things can just be a ‘placebo effect’ (I really have no idea why I am such a cynic!!) But that being said I’ll give anything a go and I’m so glad I gave Benenox a chance! Don’t get me wrong you’re not bouncing off the walls come the morning but what it does do is make you feel more human, less groggy and just a little bit more energetic. I have noticed a real correlation between the quality of sleep I now get and my concentration levels throughout the day. Now that I’ve incorporated it into a new slower, chilled out bedtime routine it’s doing me the world of good. Rather than run round like a mad woman the night before packing bags and making lunches I feel more revived waking up in the morning now that I have the energy to do it and that is what I call a little victory. It now makes more sense for me to go to bed a little bit earlier and wake up a little bit earlier because when I wake up I feel a little more fresh. I won’t lie though I still hit that snooze button a solid 3 times, it’s just one of those long lasting love affairs and I’ll never be ready to give it up!

Benenox can be purchased from Boots and you can also visit their website for a list of stockists and more info. This blog post was sponsored by Benenox but as always all opinions and words are my own.
