In my ‘day job’ I sit in an office that’s a converted portakabin. We fight over the air con and every now and then we’ll get a ‘freebie’ like leftover cakes or a few stale sandwiches. I love the NHS, I really do and I love working for them but it’s very much a ‘no frills’ career. No lavish parties, big bonuses or company perks like some other careers offer. But I’m okay with that because I genuinely have a lot of love for our NHS and being a part of something that makes a difference in the world makes it all worth while. So when an email dropped in to my inbox from The Blogger Programme inviting me to spa morning and lunch I (obviously!) jumped at the chance to drop all my parenting responsibilities for the day and enjoy a bit of me time! So off I trotted from Liverpool to London for the day to be greeted by . . . Harriet from Toby and Roo, Alice from More than Toast and Gabrielle from Gabrielle Wears Denim and the lovely Olivia and Hayley from the TBP.
TBP is a global social platform that pairs bloggers/vloggers/influencers with brands to work on campaigns together. I’ve been signed up to TBP for a couple of years now (honestly when I first signed up I didn’t have a clue what I was doing I’m not going to lie, it was all very new to me) and I’ve had some amazing opportunities to work on campaigns with brands such as Tesco and Quidco. Their briefs are always really clear and concise and I love working with them because there is always a genuine fit between a brand and a blogger and everything feels really natural. I still find it really hard to talk about all this kind of thing because like I’ve said 100 times over (you’re probably all bored of me now) I’m not a full time blogger, this isn’t my career. It’s my hobby and I love it and the fact such opportunities have come about from being able to do something I enjoy so much still blows me away daily. I will never be blasé about this because it’s honestly such a pleasure to be able to experience these things and I don’t want it to ever feel like the ‘everyday normal’ for me. ANYHOOOOOO TANGET AS ALWAYS . . .
Now that I’ve got my ramble out the way with let’s talk about the House of Elemis! It’s a little piece of spa heaven tucked away down a pretty little side street in Mayfair filled with flowers and the most amazing scents. I adore Elemis products they truly are incredible. Even at Uni when I was scraping by on a student loan and eating beans on toast every night I was still washing my face with Elemis products because I’d visited the spa at Center Parcs which used their products and I was instantly hooked! Champagne taste lemonade money right!? We were all booked in for facials (which are my absolute fave) however I’d had my eyebrows topped up the week before so unfortunately I couldn’t get one. So I had a full body massage instead and it was honestly so relaxing and such a real treat as it’s something I would never usually do.
After our treatments we were treated to a slap up 3 course lunch at Avenue Restaurant in St James. Just look at this menu! I am a pizza or burger and chips kinda gal (you know this) so menus like this do take me out of my comfort zone and force to me to try things I wouldn’t normally go for and I’m so glad because every course was incredible! I went for the tomato and truffle whipped ricotta, the glazed pork belly and the passionfruit cheesecake. But of course I still ordered a side of fries, because chips are life.
We drank, we laughed and we talked labour stories (because what else do you do in the company of other Mums!?). The food was amazing and the company was even better! It was such a lovely day and I had a few ‘pinch me’ moments and I’m not even ashamed to say it. I know for a lot of bloggers this is their everyday life but for me this is my Sasha Fierce alter ego because 9-5, Monday-Wednesday I’m still Emma Manchester from financial accounts. So a huge thank you to TBP for their amazing hospitality! As a platform I couldn’t recommend them enough and it was so nice to finally meet people who have been ‘colleagues’ via email for a long time! So if you’re wanting to join The Blogger Programme up you can click here all you need is 3,000 genuine followers to sign up. It’s not about huge followings, or glossy editorial pictures, if a brand love you then they love you. Don’t be like how I was (and still sometime am), give your head a wobble, have a little confidence in yourself and go for it! You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve!
